In the City - The Apartment by The Line
It's easy to feel inspired when you're traveling and discovering new places. But when you're at home, grounded in routine and preoccupied by the tasks and chores of day-to-day life, it's easy to find yourself slipping into a creative rut. Even if you live in a cultural mecca like New York City, sometimes it's things like a pair of shoes in a shop window, an interesting light fixture, a powder blue townhouse, or a restaurant bar made of heavy marble and gleaming copper that get your mind working in a different way.
Enter The Apartment by The Line--my recent source of design and style inspiration. I've been spending lots of time at home recently (both in the city and in my actual apartment) and have been feeling the urge to update my space. Not surprisingly, each weekend, I've managed to wander into The Line, which is most easily summed-up as the apartment I envision in a really optimistic version of "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?"
Designed to display a perfectly curated selection of furniture, art, home decor, clothing, and beauty products in context, The Line feels like walking into the home of your chicest, most stylish friend. It makes you want to go home and throw out the stacks of unread magazines cluttering your tables, arrange the contents of your dresser onto pretty brass trays, and scatter spare, minimal flower arrangements across every surface in your home. It makes you want to live a life that's tidy and carefully edited; to transform your space into somewhere that makes you feel like you're living as the best version of yourself. It makes you want to be someone's chic, stylish friend.
And in my opinion, that alone is plenty of inspiration to hold you over until next weekend.
